Taipei, Taiwan — August 19, 2020 —

The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for the fiscal year 2019 (US government appropriations and procurement) was signed into U.S. Law. To authorize appropriations for the fiscal year 2019 for military activities of the department of defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the department of energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes. The act includes video surveillance equipment under the “covered telecommunications equipment” definition and calls out specific vendors, cameras, and components which are expressly forbidden for use in US government-related video surveillance deployments.
